iPad

Purpose:
The iPad, which has been commonly referred to as a tablet, is a slate. The slate’s functionality is great for consuming media. Slates are mid-size, touch-screen devices similar to tablets but lacking a physical keyboard and swivel screen.

Details:

The iPad will run some new applications plus iPhone apps; include 16, 32, and 64 GB versions; have a 1 GHz processor; and carry 3G mobile access for an additional cost.

Drawbacks:

Some users find it hard to type on touch-screen keyboards, although the iPad has a dock for users to connect a separate keyboard

Purpose:

The tablet allows users to both create and consume content. Typing and editing on the keyboard is more efficient that using touch alone. The mid-size screen makes the tablet portable but offers users a bigger, clearer view of material than a smartphone can.

Details:

The touch-screen computer — unlike the slate– comes with a keyboard. The LED color screen falls between smartphone and laptop size. Tablets usually have a swivel screen that can click into a flat shape

Drawbacks:

E-readers

eReaders

Purpose:

Users can carry around a portable library with this device and turn pages with a simple touch. Books, newspapers and magazines are downloaded or sent wirelessly to the device. Users can highlight passages and make notes, and your spot is always save.

Details:

Feature, depending on the product, can include non-glare screens, a read-to-me feature, adjustable text size and wireless 3G coverage.

Drawbacks:

E-readers’s function is specific to reading e-books, newspapers, magazines and documents but not much else.

Netbooks

Purpose:

Netbook are mini computers that are smaller than the standard laptop and generally less expensive. They are best used for general computing, e-mail and Internet access. They are more powerful than a smartphone but don;t have the power of a full computer.

Features can vary, but most netbooks have 10-inch screens, 1 to 2 GB of memory and 160 GB of hard drive storage

Drawbacks:

Netbooks are ideal fo on-the-go users who are not doing anything that nees a lot of horsepower. The keyboards are 80 to 90 percent smaller that those of standard laptop keyboards, and typically there are no CD or DVD drives.

iPad

Baru2 ini ramai pembicaraan tentang produk Apple terbaru, iPad. Dengan ciri khas apple – interface yang memukau, iPad hadir dengan body yang super tipis (0,5 inch). Namun kalo kamu pengguna iPhone sebelumnya, maka kamu ga akan begitu terkejut ketika menggunakan iPad ini. Yap, iPad ini bisa dibilang iPhone berukuran besar (layarnya berukuran 9,7 inch dengan berat 1.5 pounds). Liat aja gambar perbandingan iPad vs iPhone berikut ini:

Berikut adalah beberapa hal yang perlu kamu catat sebelum membeli iPad

• Layarnya keren, pake LED gitu, tapi resolusinya “cuma” 1024×768
• Rasionya masih 4:3. Klo buat wide screen, mana enak klo pake ratio segini
• Processornya cepet untuk ukuran netbook (netbook atau tablet ya?), karena iPad menggunakan processor A4 yang cepat dan hemat energi
• Baterai iPad mampu bertahan hingga 10 jam. Bisa nonton video berjam2 di jalan tuh klo lagi bosen
• Sayangnya, iPad belum punya kemampuan multi tasking. (Doooh..hari gini belum bisa multi tasking) Mungkin sedang dalam pengembangan kali ya?
• Punya fitur / aplikasi iBook. Woow apalagi ini? iBook adalah aplikasi apple yang buat kamu bisa baca Novel atau buku pelajaran dengan mendownloadnya, so simple! Dan karena tidak ada biaya kertas bisa dipastikan harga buku lebih murah daripada beli yang versi kertasnya, serta gak usah jauh2 ke toko buku.
• Tidak ada kamera. Syg bgt ya? Dengan dukungan wifi, iPad ini tidak bisa menjalankan video conferencing
• Bisa menjalankan aplikasi2 iPhone karena iPad ini mendukung iPhone OS versi 3.2
• Keyboardnya bagus tp ga terlalu ok. Ga kaya pas demo peluncurannya (huh!), tapi sygnya terpisah (aksesoris tambahan). Klo mau keyboard virtual
• Ga bisa jalanin flash..hyah ga bisa ngeyoutube atau maen game2 flash dong
• Harganya? Murah untuk versi standar,kisaran $400. Untuk yg paling mahal (kisaran $800), kita bisa mendapatkan iPad dengan kapasitas 32GB dan fitur 3G. Ada buat sim card nya juga lho, tp kayanya belom bisa buat sim card Indonesia.
• Belom support HDMI, padahal sekarang lagi jaman2nya film HD.  Salah satu fungsi iPad kan sebagai media player, harusnya IMHO, iPad menyediakan service yang memuaskan yang berkatian dengan multimedia
• Apple menyertakan kompas dalam tiap iPad nya. Tapi tidak GPS.

Banyak kelebihan dan kekurangan dari iPad yang bisa kamu pertimbangkan sebelum buru2 membeli. Mungkin ada baiknya nunggu versi berikutnya -yang bisa multitasking, teteeeep
